What we do

Davies White Ltd are a RHS Gold Medal and BBC People’s Choice award winning Chartered Landscape Architects practice. We have extensive experience of delivering projects from inception to completion and specialise in children’s playful landscapes and gardens. We offer award winning hands on community engagement services and can offer full Design & Build services when required.

We aim to create gardens and public spaces that help reconnect children and their families with nature. Why? because we believe Nature makes us all happier, healthier, and more creative.

PLAY

Since winning our first RHS Gold Medal and BBC People’s Choice Award we have gone on to win over 20 national design, engagement and construction awards for our innovative play space projects. Since 2007 our projects have been used as a benchmark for innovative play space design by many commissioning organisations.

In 2017 we won an RHS Gold Medal, BBC People’s Choice Award and RHS Best in Show for our Zoflora and Caudwell Children’s Wild Garden, a woodland garden designed for children of all abilities, including autism. After the show we reimagined the design and created a permanent children’s garden at the new International Centre for Childhood Disability at Keele University.

Other flagship projects include Glasgow’s Commonwealth Games Legacy Play Park, Midsomer Norton Skate Park near Bath, Dinton Pastures Country Park near Wokingham, Mos O’balloch Nature Play on the Shores of Loch Lomand, Southampton Common Nature Playground, Hobbledown Children’s Farm in Surrey and various projects at Ferry Meadows County Park near Peterborough.

During 2018 we will be working closely with the RHS and NHS to create a number of gardens throughout the year to promote health and wellbeing. Beginning with the RHS Garden on Main Avenue at RHS Chelsea in May 2019.

ENGAGE

Davies White engagement programmes are tailored to fit the requirements of the brief and are designed to ensure a wide range of project stakeholders are involved. Model making workshops are popular with all age groups as are the hands on woodland craft workshops we facilitate as part of the construction stage. More recently we have introduced plant scent and taste workshops.

‘Seeing is believing’ tours can be arranged with our contractors where stakeholders visit the site during the construction phase. We run projects to engage with harder to reach groups, from working with disability groups and youth organisations to coffee mornings for the elderly.

We also create project specific engagement websites which help us reach a much wider audience and also utilise social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
