A nature-led country park shaped through strategic masterplanning and engagement — a home for wildlife and people of all ages.

Quarry Farm Country Park, Stamford, Rutland

Strategic masterplanning and engagement by Davies White Ltd, Quarry Farm Country Park is a landscape-led vision for a new country park shaped by existing woodland, grassland and habitats. Developed in partnership with Nene Park Trust, the masterplan protects the character of the site while creating a long-term framework for nature recovery, informal play, learning and inclusive access for people of all ages.

The emerging proposals support measurable Biodiversity Net Gain and establish a robust ecological framework shaped by woodland, meadow, wetland and open mosaic habitats. Informed by detailed survey work and landscape analysis, the masterplan strengthens existing habitat networks while enabling responsible public access. The approach balances environmental protection with everyday enjoyment, ensuring the Country Park contributes positively to climate resilience, nature recovery and long-term landscape quality.

With long-term stewardship anticipated through Nene Park Trust, the masterplan establishes a clear framework for phased delivery, management and future adaptation as the surrounding community evolves. The Country Park will play a key role within the wider Stamford North Sustainable Urban Extension, providing accessible green infrastructure that supports health, wellbeing and everyday connection with nature, while ensuring the landscape continues to mature and strengthen over time.

The approach has been shaped through dialogue with local stakeholders, recognising the strong desire to retain the site’s valued character while improving access, legibility and long-term resilience. The proposals balance protection and change, introducing a clear structure of paths, gathering spaces and areas for informal recreation that support everyday use without over-formalising the landscape. This careful framework helps ensure the Country Park grows from what is already there, strengthening its identity as a distinctive and valued green space for the wider Stamford community.
