Revitalising an urban space in Islington into a welcoming, inclusive pocket park for all ages.

Fortune Street Pocket Park

Davies White Ltd led the redesign of Fortune Street Park in the heart of Islington, working closely with the local council, community, and stakeholders to reimagine this much-loved green space. The project focused on upgrading the play area, improving biodiversity through layered planting, and enhancing accessibility and sociability across the park—all while respecting its historic character and urban context.

The refurbished park now features nature-inspired play elements, new seating and social spaces, and a relocated edible garden positioned to thrive in sunnier conditions. These improvements delivered in collaboration with Warwick Landscaping have turned Fortune Street Park into a more welcoming, biodiverse, and vibrant place for residents, school children, and the wider community to enjoy.

Our design process was enriched by a series of creative engagement workshops with a neighbouring Special Educational Needs (SEN) school. Through hands-on model-making and playful planting activities, children explored textures, colours, and spatial ideas that fed directly into the final design. This inclusive approach ensured the park was not only more accessible but also more meaningful and engaging for young users of all abilities.
