A Davies White workshop championing resilient housing landscapes and co-creating ideas for a future garden accreditation.

Climate Resilient Garden Workshop

In partnership with Anglian Water, Davies White Ltd led a one-day workshop at the renowned Beth Chatto Gardens to explore how gardens and landscapes in new housing developments can be designed to tackle climate change, biodiversity loss, and water stress. The event brought together national voices from planning, design, and horticulture including speakers from the RHS offering fresh thinking on how we shape the green spaces of tomorrow.

To ensure wider reach, the workshop was professionally filmed and photographed, capturing both the speaker content and interactive sessions. For those unable to attend, the film embedded on this case study page offers further insight into the day’s discussions, outcomes, and ambitions. Next steps include follow-up with key partners including the RHS and professional bodies to explore piloting the accreditation scheme and developing a shared vision for resilient housing landscapes.

Alongside inspiring talks, the day included a guided tour of Chattowood an exemplar development designed with Beth Chatto’s planting ethos plus an interactive design workshop that introduced the idea of a “Resilient Garden & Landscape Award.” This proposed accreditation scheme, aimed at raising standards in residential green infrastructure, drew strong interest. Participants explored what an award might look like, what it should measure, and how it could be piloted in partnership with organisations like the RHS.
